It's simply bad science ® to try to apply a highly vaccinated country that also happens to be the one that had much higher cases than its neighbors already with unvaccinated countries.
The only thing this really suggests is that we rich countries are probably done with this shit pretty soon barring a more severe variant that isn't likely.

I was being a touch myopic and referring just to the UK.
It isn't the vaccinated protesting hospitals and harassing patients trying to go in for chemo.
We currently have close to 2500 active cases of omicron and 0 people in ICU. Our first omicron cases were right at the onset. As far as I'm aware no one here has died of omicron. Granted we have a very high vaccination rate, but South Africa doesn't and they're finding similar outcomes.
The overruns can be real without ICU cases being involved.
I've had 3 surgeries postponed this week at one of my facilities because they didn't have enough beds in case someone needed to stay overnight from these outpatient procedures.
Now I know that's anecdotal, but that's also real. 3 people had to have their needed surgeries delayed because this small town was at capacity due to Covid patients needing hospitalization.
I don't have the details on vaccinated/unvaccinated patients that were hospitalized but it's a small town, very low vaccination rate, and lots of obesity in the community.
*I'm not arguing with you. Just wanted to point out another reality about overruns.

My mom was with my sister-in-law on Monday. Brother started having symptoms on Tuesday. Tested positive this morning. My mother and stepfather both tested negative and are going to re-test tomorrow.
Unvaxxed sister and her unvaxxed redneck husband are driving in from Dallas but stopping in Orlando first to see my brother. Finna have to put my foot down and tell them they need to test negative before coming down here.
I would beat the shit out of both of them (my sister and her husband) pretty easily so they'll listen.
