I keep trying and failing to get into Saga. I love BKV, but I couldn't get into it after the first arc because it seemed to be moving too slowly. How would you say it compares to other comic book space operas like Heart of Empire or A Distant Soil or even a good film or tv show comparison? Everyone swears by this series and I want to give it another shot.
I gave this some thought and I’m struggling to come up with a comparison. I once saw it described as Star Wars meets Game of Thrones, but that’s probably the most basic comparison given the popularity of those two.
There’s a lot of characters and story going on so you definitely need to be in it for the long haul for payoffs.
If you like the genre and BKV I’d say give it another story arc?
It’s really a unique book.
I love how punk rock it is. BKV was asked about the potential for movie or tv adaptation. He said he planned to keep it as a comic and that he put things in it that he knew couldn’t be done in tv or movies, which is clear reading it.
Or that when people complained about the female character breast feeding on the cover of the first issue. They used that cover for the first trade and then threw it in those complainers faces with the cover of the first hardcover collection.

OMG, so look. I meant to start from the beginning and read the whole thing all over before entering into the new issue but I got busy with school, I didn't read. Now I am in this debate on do I just read the new one or carve out time to start at the beginning. I don't think it will take me too long to get through.

There’s definitely big moments that I completely forgot happened. I was hoping they’d have a “previously on” write up inside the cover like some image titles do. Mostly because I’m lazy and too anxious to read the new issue.
I doesn’t hurt jumping right into the new one but I’d recommend going back through.
