Petr Yan’s entire corner denied Visa requests. At UFC 273 next month, Petr Yan is set to challenge Aljamain Sterling for the UFC bantamweight title. The fight will be a rematch from their UFC 259 collision last year, which saw Sterling capture the belt courtesy of a controversial disqualification win.

I hope Sterling wins this match. I mean he won't - Yan is better - but I like Aljamain and Yan seems like kind of a dick.

I want justice to be served

If I recall correctly...Sterling milked that foul for a belt

Can't speak to either guy's character

it was an unfortunate situation. on the one hand, aljo did seem to milk it

on the other, he got illegally kneed hard. and imo, fights should not ever be allowed to continue after that

long story short, an illegal strike to thr head should be an automatic DQ imo. then we wouldnt have situations where:

- aljo gets mocked for faking it
- anothony smith has to fight the rest of the fight after recieving an illegal, potentially fight-changing strike

I don't like milking it is all...can't say I blame him because without it he wasn't getting that belt that night

The foul equals a DQ gets tricky IMO...an eye poke/nutshot can be just as fight changing as a illegal knee

eye pokes should be an automatic ending. maybe not a DQ. but whatever its called where there is no winner or loser.

its too dangerous a sport for someone to be participating in without proper vision

I think a point should be taken and an option to go to the cards

It's tricky anyway you cut it...more rules equals more fouls and more controversial rulings and outcomes

A tale of two fouls...

Aljo: Eating steak & lobster

Smith: Eating McDonald's

Given the current state of the world I can’t say I’m surprised.

I’m rooting for Sterling anyway. He’s one of us.

Nah. That was about as blatant a foul as I've seen outside of a title fight. Yan fucked up by throwing it, he has nobody to blame but himself. DQ was fully warranted. ?

We need refs to do their jobs and take away points. The fighters are warned before the fight and should have point taken on first foul. I think we’d see a dramatic drop in eye pokes and groin shots immediately.

The Yan thing was a once in championship history thing and only really an issue because of the title. Obviously Sterling was grounded but I honestly am not even sure what a grounded fighter is anymore.

Yeah I want to see the refs tell the fighters straight up, "I see you in your striking stance with your fingers out, I'll pause the fight and give you a warning. After that, you make contact with the guy's face with your fingers out, I'm taking a point immediately." And then fucking do it. None of this "you get two fight-affecting eye pokes for free" bullshit.
