We use like 20 million a day.
This is a political stunt that amounts to a flea on an elephant's ass.

Total reserves are 500 million barrels. That's enough to fully cover American needs for 25 days.

He needs to make nice with the oil sector. Assure them he won't fuck them in the ass again. If they are going to invest in prospecting on these leases that Biden keeps bragging are now open after being frozen, then they need to know they can recover investments.

Nobody wants to invest millions of dollars in equipment and people and shipping, only to have the rug yanked out from under them as soon as the current crisis is over.

Time to grovel, Joe.
Pucker up.

I have to disagree given the scale of the release. Even a 5% increase (relative to consumption) in daily oil available to the US market is going to have an effect.

It's already having one, actually. WTI is below $100 and that can't be explained as the result of anything other than Biden's announcement.

Now, is oil finna go back down to $60/bbl like it was a year ago? No, of course not.

But it's definitely having and will continue to have an effect.

If Hoover Dam had a leak, this is like shoving a piece of gum in it and saying "Fixed it!"
