season one of Spartacus - 6.8/10

started off slow and redundant. second half was better. I subtracted a tenth of a point also for repeatedly exhibiting Lucy Lawless' breasts. gross. i skipped seasons 2 and 3 due to a change in actors. Currently finishing season 4 ( the prequel season ) and its actually got some carefully considered writing angles etc. i like it.

No Escape - 6.8/10

I had low expectations going in for a multitude of reasons. It's basically your quintessential 80's/90's Die Hard action film premise, but made surprisingly well and more grounded in reality ; its as much about the characters as the action. I believe marijuana was a major catalyst, but the film gave me terrible anxiety. Brosnon's character was awesome.

Watched the Way Way Back last night and liked it. Along the lines of a Juno and Little Miss Sunshine.

Interesting to see Steve Carell act like a prickish father in this one. Nice little summer flick.
