I don't know about the rest of the people in this thread, but I blame the murder weapon. The murder was a good boy that wasn't given the upbringing the rest of us had.
The murderer was a depressed, isolated teenage psychopath from an abusive/neglectful background, with no social support network and no interactions with effective mental health services.

Okay, we all have those depressed, isolated teenage psychopaths, everywhere in the developed world.

It's just that everywhere else, they can't walk into a gun shop with money from their part time fast food job (we all still have gun shops, by the way) and buy two AR-15s and hundreds of rounds of ammo for them. Nor can they buy that shit illegally.

One of his rifles was a "Daniel Defence", btw. Yeah, he sure defended the hell out of himself against those 40 random ten year olds that he shot.

the concept of an illegal weapon infringes upon my liberties. i will fly a nuclear-armed f-35 over the white house as is my right to have any weapon the government has

Most people with nuclear arms f 35s are law-abiding citizens. So why would we regulate such a thing?

That's the penalty for having an illegal gun?
What? No, we don't have the types of penalties that you guys do. Nobody's going to jail for 30 years because they have a warrant or a couple of priors and a cop pulls them over for a busted taillight and there's contraband in the car.

Obviously you have the odd wingnut who's just going to randomly pop off and turn a nothing situation into a life and death showdown. That's just part of the human condition. But generally speaking, criminals don't have enough on the line to kill a cop or seriously try to. They're never gonna get away with that and they know it, and if they're 28 years old and they get caught with a pound of meth, that's not the end of their life. There's not the high stakes, and they're not likely to be carrying a gun as part of their everyday routine so chances are there won't even be anything in the car for them to reach for in the moment of the confrontation with authority.

If it was legal to buy an F35, who would own one?

Think about it, it's an interesting exploration of what the 2A is about.

Sun's out, guns out.
the fact you must keep your death tool at all costs despite public opinion and will is extremely threatening, it is clearly an assault on my natural right to live in a democratic and safe society.
