As someone from a small town with shit for radio station options...

I've never understood the weird relationship that people have with a station. My brain just isn't capable of computing it.

You my friend are probably not a music lover.I loved music. In fact,I wanted to be a drummer. When you are talking about Heavy Metal, radio stations only played the popular stuff. With the heavy metal format, there is not much money in sponsors & advertising. Most are not interested.

KNAC did what nobody else had the balls to do.They stayed in business & profited probably because of their location near Hollywood.

It's a miracle what such a small station (a HEAVY METAL station) was able to accomplish world wide.

Let me tell you guys something. There is no doubt that I would have been competitive in any air-guitar contest.I can assure you of that.I also played a mean broomstick.

Fact not fiction.

The disagree rating is based on your first sentence.

I'm a massive music lover.

But the radio was useless to me unless I wanted to hear gospel, country, or country gospel.

So my search for music always had to come through word of mouth of friend of a friend and just blindly buying albums after hearing one good song on MTV and just searching for everything that spoke to me.

So because I didn't have the option of a solid radio experience, it just doesn't resonate.

A weird analogy to radio would be someone that absolutely loves Comedy Central when all I've had access to was PBS. Just don't get the magic of the big market stations.

You are aware that the most successful ratings that MTV ever had was the Headbangers Ball?

Some KNAC slogans.

Burning the road like Big Dog in heat

Turn it up & break off the knob.

Southern California's only real ass-kicker
