I was all set to go over. They wanted a minimum of 2 years or I'd be liable for the course they were gonna put me on (fiber optic and eurofighter)

Then I had to have surgery, and while I was laid up the news broke about that khalsoggi murder and I thought and I decided fuck em I don't wanna work for them. Then I got threatening emails because I'd signed up already.

Only way I'll step foot in Saudi Arabia is to shoot the fuckers.
same kind of deal, working for a telecom company. 2 year contract for $200k/yr, company car, 2 months offs, round trip ticket anywhere in the world every year, townhouse in the American compound. And I had no college, just technical background and security clearance.

Of course, this was in 2000, so I would have been in Saudi Arabia on 9-11.

Exactly. I haven't watched golf in like a decade. But whoever said shotgun start made me want to tune in for some reason

But these dudes are indirectly aligning with MBS. Thats pretty sick

Coincidentally, Biden is also about to realign with MBS lol
Not the first time someone has to hold their nose and accept money from unsavory characters.

The PGA Tour siphons millions from the players. They control all the media. The ads you see where Phil or Tiger makes a huge shot? The players see $0 from that. The PGA owns the video and sells it accordingly.

The PGA also has a Netlix project that is following players around during events at courses. The players cut? $0.

The PGA has had their thumb on these guys for a long time and finally some of the players have an opportunity to tell them to fuck off.

It's all about leverage, and the PGA just lost some.

I'm not surprised that the PGA is corrupt

But every man's gotta have a code. And some of them can't resist the moneeeeey. Even if it's blood money

To each their own

I imagine Republicans are struggling over which side they should support in this one - big corporate (the PGA) or free market capitalism/shady Saudi financiers.

Mine was for a lot less, but once the 2 years were up I'd renegotiate or bounce to someone paying big bucks. It was a foot in the door kinda gig, I've burnt bridges with the USA (cleared) so was applying as a cleared UK citizen. Brits don't earn as much out there.

I was looking into Israel. I don't know what they pay but I know they have shitloads of military technology

I don't disagree.

And it's not like these guys don't make a ton of money on the PGA. Hell, they even have a senior tour where they can continue to compete and earn money after their skills start to diminish.

But, as always, money talks. I'm interested to see how the events pan out.

What's wild is that I'm not even interested in golf nowadays, but this thing almost got me to watch again. Shows how easily some people can be manipulated

When I found out the final course was trump tho, i lost all interest since i have heard enough of trump for a lifetime

So fuck the LIV thing lol

Where the defectors lose me is that PGA players aren't exactly making 15/15. They aren't doing this for a lot more money, they're doing it for a little more money. Personally, these guys can go fuck themselves.

Except, Lefty. He legitimately needs every penny he can get for his hilarious gambling debts.

It's a LOT more money. Guaranteed.

Every event will have a larger purse than The Masters. The dead last place finisher will make the same amount as the 26th place finisher did at The Masters this year.

Scheffler won $2.7 million as a Master's Champion in April.
The winner of this - and every - LIV event will take home $4 million.

You can make the argument of how much money does someone need - but this isn't chump change. The Saudi's knew they had to overpay to make a wave and that's what they did.

I would dogwalk you by at least 10 strokes on the course of your choice.

2.7 to 4 isn't a lot.

Koepka just left the PGA for LIV.

That's a big one. He's ranked 19th in the world.

You were also happy when the Saudis bought Newcastle.

Ghastly.
Money brings competition, which makes for better viewing.

I personally would rather watch a tramp have a shit than watch golf, my ex lady friend plays it every day, I never went once with her. Probably why she dumped me

In the last couple of years how many pl champions won with record or almost record - high points?
The pl isn't full of competition, it's one/two teams spending billions of dirty money and another hanging on due to Klopp. I guess your solution is that every club gets blood money, coolio.

And in this case it isn't fitting either, it didn't bring competition, it drained and split it.
I don't care about golf but it's clear in either sport that the talent pool only gets so big. More money doesn't boost the talent pool.

It may do so in decades to come if you actually invest it in grass roots stuff. But we both know that's hardly the case.

All of these greedy multi-millionaire cunts should fly over there, have their passports confiscated, and spend a couple of months working side by side with the slaves who are building the courses that they'll be playing on. After they've done that, then they can come back and tell us what great guys the Saudis are.
