Thing is, history has shown that progressives always win. The "establishment" stands firm with arms locked in socially conservative unity... and eventually they get steam rolled. Every issue since the fifties.

You can't stand in the way of progress.
This is unfortunately demonstrably false. History is full of ups and downs, big wins and crippling defeats. There is no progressive arc. There's only what we will into being.

This is great news for corporations. Progressives like myself who were planning on leaving the topline blank in 2020 and 2024 have no choice but to vote for a shitty establishment democrat since it's a much lesser evil than the fundamentalist right

Seems to me civil rights have been steadily going the liberal way since the fifties. Until now.

Civil liberties have expanded and contracted in many societies in history. It's only a recency bias that makes it look like continuity. The best way to think of it in the American context at least is there were mass movements that compelled legislative changes over the last century that we've been the beneficiaries of. For the last few decades we've been living in a period of extreme demobilization where the kinds of organizing that sustained what we call "progress" has mostly disbanded. The result is a resurgence of reactionary politics that are trying to rally around a romantic vision of a different society where they were more economically secure. But there's no economic security or any security except the security of states and corporations to monitor where you go and what you do with your body.

look all i’m saying is that before women could vote, blacks could share drinking fountains and marriages with the whites and when gays were still buried deep deep deep in the closet, america was great.

It'll be interesting when the Republicans manage to impose Christianity as the official religion, and make access to birth control illegal.

This country was founded on Christian values, never imposed on anyone the Constitution gives the people the right to believe/practice what they like - Free will - now on the other hand the socialist liberals do push their agenda on all of us and those that do not comply are censored and shunned.

Liberals really lost all credibility by supporting vaccine mandates. You cant scream "my body, my choice!" after demanding unvaccinated people be force vaccinated or fired from their jobs, disowned by their families, and removed from society. It's beyond hypocritical.
