OZ is a goof too but he's running on all cylinders unlike the vegetable Fatterman with his DNA soaked sweaty hoodie and neck wraps hiding his second head on his neck being ushered by his wife like Jill Biden with Joey. Border states have been negatively impacted by prolonged federal inaction. I look at this as both a political statement and a cry for help. DC has only received a tiny % of what the border states are dealing with every day and they have already called in the national guard.

I feel bad for anyone fleeing their country looking for a better life, but they're probably better off in DC where there aren't as many newly displaced folks. But you're right - that's not why Abbott and Co are doing it.

It's a shitty situation that needs immediate attention. It's been ignored for far too long.

it''s federal overaction at the border that's the issue.

they make it impossible for people to come here legally and work at trades, and they do that to keep mega-corporations stocked with slave labor.

I agree the process is ridiculously tedious.

Not sure about the mega-corporation slave labor. They are pretty strict with big companies on verifying citizenship prior to hire with an I-9.

"verifying citizenship" = "documentation not obviously fake"

"The employer must examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s) an employee presents to determine whether the document(s) reasonably appear to be genuine and to relate to the employee and record the document information on the Form I-9."

worst case, low-level HR person gets fired. No C-level has ever been prosecuted for illegal labor hiring.

Anecdotal - but we had a builder get busted around here for having illegals on their jobsites. No jail time - but I think they had to pay some massive fines though.
