Anyone seen the red wave that was promised?
I was very surprised it didn't happen to be honest.

GOP overplayed their hand with the abortion idiocy. Swung the pendulum too far towards the crazy.

If the GOP overplayed their hand on the abortion issue they'd have gotten smoked in the mid-terms.

Americans just don't really care that much about the direction of their country.

I disagree.

The GOP lost any "momentum" gained from the ineptitude of the current administration. I said it on these boards the day after the Supreme Court made their decision.

Some woman took a bit of heat for saying something like "if you are a woman voting to make abortion illegal that's like a roach voting for RAID". Something like that anyway.

The GOP effectively lost the fence-sitters, particularly the younger female demographic. And they did so because they listened too much to the crazy religious folks who think abortion is an inherent evil that should never happen under any circumstance.

Anyone with a brain knows the states will eventually figure it out and end up with restrictions that make sense. It was handled poorly and it cost GOP dearly in these midterms.

The next elephant in the room they need to deal with immediately is Trump. He can't win. If he runs, the GOP - and this country - is looking at more of the lunacy currently being served up by the folks in charge.

That substantially biases your opinion on the matter.

If people were that bent out of shape they'd have been crushed. It was basically a draw.

Absolutely correct. Although it would be funny to see a person go 1-2 in presidential elections.

I think it would have been a cake walk.
The abortion thing motivated a lot of Dems who wrre probably looking at their side and thinking "fuck it". They might have stayed home. The Supreme Court gave them a reason to get off their ass.

For the GOP voters, the opposite happened.

All just my opinion of course. But I'm pretty smart so...

I'm biased because I made a statement before and I still think that statement is true?
Yes. It's called confirmation bias. There's basically no outcome where you couldn't still claim yourself to be correct.

I think it would have been a cake walk.
I don't think it was ever going to be a cakewalk.

An unintended side effect is that pollsters have proven themselves useless yet again.

If you guys manage to get rid of Cali and those states that founded the country, you'll really have something.
We need to kick our global warming into gear. Melt those glaciers and raise the ocean level.

If we can squeeze the oceanfront borders in by about 200 miles that would be great.

America will be a shell of itself if you lose that wild ass place that is Florida.
