I'm very confused by some of these where the victim is complicit in the activity. Ie, Teacher's don't have carte blanche to commit theft.
I also can't even imagine if my wife took my kid grocery shopping and ended up dead, but who on the fuck gets involved in a parking lot fight thinking it's going to be a favorable outcome? Even if it's your fault, apologize and move on with your life. Being dead right is a consequence no one ever seems to consider.

In the world we grew up in, calculators were not even allowed in class, they were taken to assure honesty.
Now they're practically mandatory.

A teacher can take away your property during class and later return it. They can't take your property and keep it. That's theft.

I had teachers take stuff away from me too, even an assistant Principal. I think this big ol guy who attacked the teacher for taking his Nintendo Switch had mental issues sadly. But it seems like teachers everywhere live in fear in certain shitholes of being beat down or even killed by students who don't give a damn...

The school can take away it and give it back at the end of the day. He doesn’t get to go to his next class and play Nintendo. Many cases they’ll make the parents pick it up.
Come to think of it that is what the nun said about my knife, but no way was I going to tell my parents I was a butterfly knife master in the hot lunch line. So I decided stealing it from her desk was my best plan.
