They were both conservatives.
Malcolm X was not a conservative. He was more of a separatist who realized the liberals of the democratic party didn't really have the best interests of the African Americans in mind with their policy.

He definitely didn't fit into the democrat/liberal camp, but that doesn't mean he's automatically a conservative.

"All men are created equal" is a core tenet of American social conservatism. Conservativism also doesn't belong to a self serving political party which always acts in it's own interest.

Neither were individualists, both had messages that relied entirely on large groups working together.
