Well so much for my hopes that the 49ers would give the Dolphins a hand by beating the Ravens.

They say it's a sign of a quality QB when he spreads the ball around to many different receivers, but Purdy took it one step too far by throwing it to half the Ravens defense as well :)
Big Cock Brock strikes again!

This Bronco Shit is wild

He had to go, played bad last two years

Tons of guys running open on-time as he resorts to spin move schoolyard scramble

Sean Payton isn't down with schoolyard as the team's main offensive pass play, he wants to run routes and play on time football...Russ ain't that guy

They cut Russ?

Doesn't he have a guaranteed contract for the next year or two? If so, wouldn't it be better to keep him as an experienced backup, especially given the number of starting QBs that have succumbed to injury over the last couple of years?

They are benching him for the last two games since Denver is most likely not making playoffs, the backup is a prospect with a higher ceiling than Russ has(stidham). Stidham is a guy that can read the field and throws across the middle, played lights out against the 49ers late last year and Sean Payton paid him 10 million for two years in Denver.

Benching Russ insures he doesn't get injured this year, if he is injured this year and not healthy when the next season starts the broncos are on the hook for 37 million in 2025. Cutting russ(or trading him for pennies) before next year saves them the 37 million in 2025. Broncos are already going to pay him 85 million over the next two years, they just don't want to guarantee him another 37M.

Keeping him as a backup means you keep paying his contract in future years, cutting him now or soon means he is off your financial books for the 2025 season so you can spend on other players.

He really can't read the field. Just throws it near the line of scrimmage or heaves a lob to a covered guy. Often scrambles out of a perfectly clean pocket to play schoolyard pick up football.

Tomorrow and in week 18 he will be the #2 QB, hopefully he doesn't see any playing time and he and the broncos can part ways after the season.

Probably bottom 5 in the league in Football IQ right now, rookie level at reading the defense pre and post snap. Sean Payton needs a smart guy to run his offense and Russ was signed before he became a Bronco Coach.

A rookie will be drafted and there will be a QB competition between guys that can read the field and beat the blitz next year. Russ can't beat the blitz, NFL defenses all know exactly how to scheme to beat him(blitz to stop the run and get pressure and cover the edges of the field/sidelines). The stats he has don't tell the story of his play, most of the stats are in garbage time and he has sucked for the first 3 quarters of most of the games the last two years.

Do you think that incompatibility with Payton's offensive scheme (and last year's offensive scheme) might have a fair amount to do with his lack of success as well? After all if it was that easy to nullify Russell Wilson, then it's unlikely that he would have looked like a shoo-in for the HoF for a decade in Seattle.

Perhaps what Hauler @Hauler has been telling us for years is actually true, Pete Carroll is an absolute genius and the best HC in the NFL :)

Seahawks knew he had been figured out by the NFL defenses during his last few seasons there. They knew his time was over and they fleeced the broncos in that trade. The Bronco GM that made the trade and signed a huge contract fucked up royally.

Pete and the Hawks ran a conservative run first offense, they did so because Russ can't run a pass first offense.
Russ tried to get Pete Carroll fired so Russ could "cook", so Pete traded his ass. The reality is that the broncos traded tons of picks and good players(even a good QB prospect in Drew Lock) for a limited QB on the downside of his career. Russ being a Hollywood couple with Ciara also led to him being less dedicated to football. Russ came to the Broncos with an entourage and got his own office on the second floor, it was a joke from the start. More concerned with image than performance.

Mr. Limited got paid and now he is getting cut.

He will play for the Vet minimum next year for another team (Steelers?Falcons?) while the broncos pay him 50 million or so. His next team won't have to pay him much at all.

Given that he will be cheap as fuck for whoever signs him next year, and he's great at playing in a run first offense, maybe he goes to Tennessee, replaces Tannehill, beats out Will Levis in preseason, then ends up looking good again and takes the Titans into the playoffs.

Beating the Broncos in the wild card round.

I wish him luck but he really isn't great in a run first offense right now, because on 3rd down he won't play on time and hit the open receiver. He will hold the ball and extend the play, taking a sack or throwing a schoolyard pass.

He is only decent in a broken play offense and no coach prefers that.

The reality is that his lack of success on 3rd downs and obvious passing downs is that the D can sell out on run downs...so he hampers the run first offense with his limited skillset. Defense sells out on run blitz on 1st and 3rd down and that is why broncos and seahawks struggled running the ball.

I suspect Denver will run the ball better next year if they have a somewhat competent passing threat, Seattle's run game got better when he left for that reason.

Levis is a better bet to lead a team, he has shown some promise in the games I watched. I would take Levis over Tannerhill.

Lions got absolutely FUCKED last night.

2 point conversion was successful. Lions win 21-20.
Except the refs said Left Tackle Decker didn't report - despite video evidence of him walking up to the ref before the play.

Lions definitely did some trickery here by having multiple O-Linemen walk up to the ref to create some confusion as to WHO was eligible. Not unusual. About 15 seconds after the conversion - a flag came out for illegal touching.

The ref said that 70 reported. He was the right tackle - and was covered up by the TE, and then another O-Lineman after a shift. So if 70 was eligible, it's an illegal formation.

Look how much time goes by after Detroit wins the game before a flag gets dropped.

At 12:13 in this video, you can see the ref point to 70 and say "You reported"

Crazy balls on Campbell to go for 2 3x in a row.
Fuck Dallas, man.

Also - Further LOL at the broadcasting crew @ 15:42 saying he wasn't covered by an eligible receiver. If 68 is eligible, he CAN'T be covered up by the receiver directly to his left. That's an illegal formation. How is it YOUR FUCKING JOB to watch football and not know what the fuck you are talking about?

Here's future Cincinnati Bengals HOF Andrew Whitworth correctly shitting all over his fellow announcers for their idiocy:

Why do they keep saying he wasn’t covered so it’s penalty ?

If he reported eligible. The correct thing would be for him to be uncovered.
— Andrew Whitworth (@AndrewWhitworth) <a href="
