Bad decisions on passing up points in the 2nd half. And horrible clock management at the end of the game.

Had it been against anyone other than the Niners I would've gone for the Lions. Hopefully they take it next year after we take it this year...

I have never understood why that change was made, it took so much excitement out of the last gasp attempts to make a comeback. I thought the NFL was all about games being decided in the last few desperate minutes of action.

You aren't following.
Detroit was up 14. Could have gone up 17 in the 2nd half. But instead of kicking the FG, he went for it on 4th. Didn't get it. Like 5 plays later the 49ers scored. So instead of being up 3 scores, they were suddenly only up 1.

Being up 3 scores in the 2nd half is huge. And it doesn't really matter if it's 17 or 21. It's 3 scores either way. At that point, you aren't gaining much with a TD over a FG. So it's not worth the risk to go for it. They went from the 49ers needing 3 possessions to only needing one in the blink of an eye. It was a bad decision.

I was going off memory...now that I have a computer in front of me...

Score was 24-10 Detroit.
Detroit had the ball on the 28 with 7:03 to go in the 3rd Quarter. Instead of kicking a 45 yard FG to go up 27-10 (3 scores), they went for it and failed.

5 plays later the 49ers scored a TD to make it 24-17 with 5:17 to go in the 3rd.

Momentum killer for sure.
But given the situation in the game - just an awful decision.

And Campbell (who I like a lot) would go on to make 2 more bad calls to piss the game away. Everyone loves his aggressiveness. But sometimes you have to play it smart.
