Very few games go by where he is the ump and you aren't asking yourself how he still has a job.

I think they should do that whenever a team moves. Cities should "own" the name, not the greedy fuck owners.

Although I think the Athletics name originated in Philly. Then to Kansas City before they moved to Oakland in like the 60s.

Teams should learn from the success of the golden knights who created their own image for the team and grew with the las vegas fan base. They are probably more popular than the kings or the ducks. I saw the 2007 ducks parade and it was pretty pathetic compared to the knights parade even the kings parade wasnt too impressive.

So the DOJ announced today that Ohtani's interpreter is being charged $16MM in bank fraud. We're are suppose to believe that the guy stole $16MM and Ohtani didn't notice...

Ohtani is the sacred cow. They aren't hanging shit on him.

$16mm represents about 25% of his career earnings. I know he gets endorsements and shit like that too, but $16mm is still likely a decent amount of his net worth.

Remember, his 10 yr $700mm contract is largely deferred - he's "only" making $2mm a year at the moment.

I'm with you. He knew.
 
Elly De La Cruz is so fucking fun to watch.

He was fun last year too, but he hit .235 and struck out a ton. Had a ton of trouble with the breaking stuff and not a ton of discipline at the plate.

He's off to a blistering start this year. He's been on base every single game. Much more disciplined at the plate. He's hitting .333 and just hit his 4th bomb of the year last night.

When he hits them, they stay hit. So much power.

The Orioles have called up 2B /SS Jackson Holliday (son of Matt Holliday)
He's 20 years old, and looks about 16.

He is MLB's #1 ranked pre-season prospect.

In year's past, you NEVER would have seen a prospect like this brought up so early. Not that his stats didn't warrant it - he's been absolutely destroying minor league pitching - but teams would always wait until later in the season to protect an extra year of team control over the player. A new MLB rule doesn't really change team control stipulations, but if a player is ranked in the Top 100 Prospects and secures a full year of service (basically brought up in the first 2 weeks of the season...172 days on the roster) AND that player factors into a postseason award (ROY, top 3 in either MVP or CY) - the team is awarded a 1st Round Draft Pick for the following season. It's knows as the PPI (Prospect Promotion Incentive). MVP and CY awards are 3-year windows where the team can get the extra 1st rounder - it doesn't have to happen in year one.

He's had a rough go so far.
0-11 in his first 3 games

I'll say this about Elly - He does pimp his HRs a bit more than I'd like.
It doesn't really bother me that much - but I know a pitcher is eventually going to take exception to it and he'll end up taking one in the ear hole, especially if he continues to hit well and they can't strike him out. I don't want the dude getting hurt.
