It's that time of the year again. One of my favorite times of the year. The running of the 150th Kentucky Derby is next Saturday, May 4th.



Here's the list of the horses by post position with their odds:

7- Honor Marie (20-1)

13- West Saratoga (50-1)
14- Endlessly (30-1)
15- Domestic Product (30-1)

The field for the 1 1/4-mile race is limited to 20 3-year-olds. If a horse scratches from the race before Friday at 9 a.m. EDT, then Epic Ride and Mugatu respectively are eligible to be added to the field.

My wife, daughter, and some of their friends are going to Oaks. I’m out that day, thank God. And then we’re having our annual Derby party on Saturday. Gonna be a long week.

Like, they are just responding to the whips and what not, giving the rider just enough to stop the whips or whatever. But if you could SOMEHOW make them learn, that if they win, they'd get all the horse punnany they could ever want in their entire life, all day every day, you'd see a NEW LEVEL of speed...

I noticed race 5 had them at 37 mph.
The fastest recorded wild horse - without a rider - is a wild mustang at 54 mph.
The fastest domesticated quarter horse - no rider - is 55 mph.

The fastest ever Derby winner was Secretariat - 37.5 mph

They are running pretty damn fast. But if a jockey knows he has the race won or if he has no chance - he'll back off a bit.
