Prime Minister Shmyhal: Ukraine will need $50 billion from the G7
Ukraine needs to receive $50 billion by the end of the year from the G7 and the European Union (EU). This was announced by the country's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the forum "Ukraine-2024. Independence".
"This should be $50 billion. Ukraine should receive them no later than the end of this year. These funds should be unconditional for Ukraine (without being tied to any reforms)," the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine said. According to Shmyhal, financial assistance should be interest-free and not affect the increase in public debt. He promised to use all funds for any needs.
Shmyhal also added that all the money could be used to compensate victims of hostilities and to purchase new weapons. The G7 countries and the European Union need to find a consensus on providing this money, he added.
Earlier, Shmyhal called Ukraine's accession to the EU a condition for a fair peace.
