Some feel “old” for remembering this. I feel old for remembering a time when if someone had suggested such a place would ever exist I’d have said “No fuckin’ way!” and would have assumed that if it ever did only rich people could afford it. 😂

Walking the local video store on a Friday afternoon was great.

Though it would also entail a second trip to the liquor store, where they would give me a sucker. Really weird fuckin practice we had with that in this country back then.

Then my parents would just get shithoused and plop us in front of the tv to watch a stack of VHS tapes.

Seemed really cool then but now that Ive typed this out and thought about it, it was just the same as parents using the iPad to raise their kids for them nowadays. Lol.

Local video stores were great in the early 90's, would hit the clubs, go out for breakfast with my wife and we would hit up the local 24 hour video store and sneak into the x rated section and giggle like high school kids.

But my first no fucking way was a family friend had a satellite dish in 90 and during a bbq he ordered a movie, he said it was the future and would shut down video stores, I thought no way, boy I was wrong.

Anyone have their father write a note to the local corner store, please sell my son a pack of cigarettes, I would skip down there, pick up dad a pack of smokes and a blowpop, never happen today.

I watched the new move from M Night Shamalyan the other day, Trap. His daughter is in the movie. After it was over I check the wiki, as I do after any movie I watch to read about the production and the actors in it. She is 28 years old, lol. Then I remember The Sixth Sense came out in like 1999. Made me feel old.

I remember looking at the quicky mart guy and saying "you know I didn't write that".
My mom's handwriting was from a time when it mattered, lol. It was perfect.
I sorta remember being sent for booze too.

Mostly I remember getting candy with the change.

$5 a pound of smoked brisket and it was eyeballed since Mario brother worked there. My ma would send me with paper food stamps and I'd buy a loaf of bread and candy with "the change". They would use cattlemens bbq sauce to slow braise it in the warming tray. I can still smell it. Handful of pickles and onions, no charge. I'm about to cry.

I finally admitted to my father at the age of 40 that I could forge his signature perfectly.

He didn't believe me so I pulled out a pen and paper and showed him.

He was like wtf, well Dad, what do you think I did with all those notes you wrote me, I practiced.

It may or may not have come in handy after he passed to clear up some issues he didn't clarify.

Still see them boys every couple years, luckily we haven't lost one of the group yet.
Oh, my homies will drop everything if I truly need them but they have their own families and moved pretty damn far. That circle of friends, we never thought any of that would change. Every few years sounds right. If somejuan missed a single day of school we'd make it our mission to find that vato and see what was wrong. All our mas treating us like their own.

Yep, We all live within 500 miles of each other but always have each others back if needed.

Archie and Fred were only 48? 48 years old in the show or IRL? Both looked like they were in their 60-70's . Meathead and his wife looked 30's-40's
