The thing I find amusing about this is that I 100 percent know someone was reading my Pm's on the old OG, someone would say, hey KVR, did you get my PM, I would go to messages and they were under my read tab. If you guys remember on the old version, there was a new and a read tab. It happened multiple times.
Of course they could. Passwords weren't even obscured in the databse.

The security of the old site sucked so much ass. Bat, black cocks, and Hillary Clinton’s galore:tearsofjoy:

Reading DMs sounds like something SpunQ woulda done though

They're very upset about it. And still unwilling to admit fault. Narcissism, ego, and entitlement is quite the motherfucker, isnt it.

Quick summary:
They come here for refuge when they had nowhere else to go.

Everyone here welcomes them with open arms. And I spend two days approving accounts, answering questions, creating threads to try and make their experience here easier...while trying to do my real job.

48 hours in, they make a thread here about creating a competing site that looks & feels like the UG. They then post links to said competing site, openly discuss DM'ing members with invitations, and spam the public forum pages w/ URL links. Would Sherdog or R/MMA allowed them to do this? Hence 'having nowhere else to go'.

They then leave for their new site, and within 2 days create these threads:
  • "TMMAC vs Discord - Who's Winning?" - - immediately making it a competition
  • "My problem with TMMAC" - - where they talk mountains of shit about the software, the (lack of) traffic, the layout, the mods, the vibe, etc, etc. Whatever mental gymnastics they could come up with to justify their Stockholm Syndrome.
Someone links me to those threads, where I see a bunch of people that we just spent a week accommodating & welcoming, acting like ungrateful assholes & talking shit about us.

So I limit their posting privileges & direct their accounts to the PVZ thread...because well...our site sucks and I can only assume that they dont intend to post on a site that sucks, right?

But I'm the asshole for taking offence and giving them what they wanted (the inability to post on a shitty site).

That was probably Chris. He abused every "authority" he had.
Dude lies as easily as you and I breath.

I don't even think the ability to read DM's is possible here, and if it is, I most certainly don't know how the fuck to do it. Plenty here can attest that I am not a tech guy, barely know how the site functions, and am having to learn as I go.

TMMAC was my idea. It started 10 yrs ago when the UG would shit the bed every fight night (and I was also fed up with Kirik & Chris' greed & lies). So I created a subforum on Reddit, where we could all go when the UG crashed on fight nights. I threw out the idea of building this site in that Reddit subforum. The Stockholm Syndrome sufferers said "Hell yeah Wild, build that shit & we'll follow!!". And they did...for about a week before running back to the UG. Change can be a motherfucker, especially for the simple minded.

Anyway, problem was, I didn't know how to build a website. But like a gift from God, a guy messages me and says "I can build your site & we can be partners". That dude was Splinty @Splinty and he was the genius behind all of this. I gave him ideas (forum names, features I thought were cool that the UG didn't offer, etc) and he brought those ideas to life. Well Splint is also a Doctor & active military, and after 8 years, he grew tired of the site (and me, if I'm being honest...politics kinda divided us). So he stepped away but we remain friends.

Now I'm left with trying to manage a site that I really don't know anything about, tech wise. Relying on guys like you and IschKabibble @IschKabibble to help me thru it.

That's the backstory & the truth.

You would have to access the SQL database and know where to look, which I know is above your knowledge base. It's pretty much standard across all forum software for a reason. People that haven't built a site or forum think there is a secret squirrel button to read people's PM's, that's not the way it works.

Some forums do have that feature. It’s not always required to go through a SQL access point. But it is obvious that someone has done it because the devs create audit trails so others can see your activity and it is not as easy to delete those audit trails.

Agreed, but I believe with Xenforos software specifically you have to go through SQL, I have been building test sites with Xenforo the last couple weeks to help wild out with some functions that he wasn't aware of it, I have seen nothing through admin access on the test sites that would allow it.

That is good news. I am in the camp that no access should be available.

lol evidently there’s a group of guys that talked shit on TMMAC and every time they log in they’re redirected to a random thread and they can’t do anything else on the site including edit/delete their account. They’re just stuck there

The troll in me finds it hilarious
