No coach is too proven to question. Pete Carroll is one of the best to ever do it, but he still fell off.

Wink has had a series of short stints that resulted in his firing, with multiple tenures as DC lasting just one year. You can definitely question any coach at the helm of a talented group that appears to be lacking fundamentals.

Or perhaps it’s more scheme than anything else. Ravens fan review of Wink:

  • Wink is insanely gimmicky and predictable. All he does is blitz 24/7. He’ll have variations and change the look slightly, but QBs know it’s a blitz every time. Vs young QBs it can work, not vs more experienced ones. Wink is also completely unable to adjust in games. The blitz isn’t working? Time to blitz some more. Ravens whole problem in playoffs aside from injuries was having both the OC (Greg Roman) and DC be insanely predictable. Combine that with having a bottom 5 WR room every year, and this is why we've been so frustrated when people expect Lamar to singlehandedly win a Super Bowl. Ravens got far outcoached in playoffs every year, not just cuz Roman's a dumbass but also cuz Wink is super predictable and can't adjust.
  • You need good DBs to really have a chance for Wink’s scheme to work. Wink loves to blitz but surprisingly isn’t great at getting sacks. He also does dumb shit like dropping rushers into coverage at the worst times. We had Judon for a while and he was fairly average for the Ravens, then went off once he was on the Patriots.

Had to turn off Matrix's McNeese game though, that one wasn't worthy of screenspace.

You know you’re in rebuild mode when a starting DE is ruled out and it makes you feel uneasy for the matchup against Eastern Michigan.
