Three episodes in I’m enjoying “Those About to Die”. First episode was kind of a mess, but now the characters and their motives are established and it’s easier to follow. The plots (meaning the plots hatched by the characters) are a little convoluted but ultimately make sense.

I wanted to enjoy this but the review and.rating scared me off.


@NiteProwleR ya bombaclot, you ever watched top boy. I was thinking you should adopt some of the verbiage into your frequent dialect.

It’s far from perfect. Almost need a scorecard to keep the characters and plots straight sometimes. And there’s some gratuitous homo shit, especially surrounding the Domitian character, which has no historical basis. But they had to have one so they picked him.
What else it depicts of history it seems to get mostly right. Vespasian died and was succeeded by Titus, and very shortly into his reign Vesuvius erupted, all of which squares with historical record. Titus was involved with a Judean queen as depicted in the show. Much like “Rome” the historical bits ride along on fictional characters dramas, but where Rome has the story carried by Verenus and Pullo, TATD has a legion of characters to deal with.

I don't know if I can finish season 8 of Dexter, it's gone so far off the rails, the only accurate thing so far was Laguerta's applying for a search warrant for Dexter and Deb's cell phone data. Just laying around the house without being executed is bullshit though.

My wife is starting to get angry at me again.

Really funny show that kind of hung around a dying network before being picked up by Netflix and getting a second wind, and hopefully, a non-shitty new season. But the first three seasons are worth a watch, at least. An unrepentant asshole who's an drug/alcohol councilor dealing with idiots in Seattle.

I'm watching the docuseries Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy war. Wyatt looks so much like Johnny Ringo in Tombstone lol.
Its narrated gracefully by Ed Harris and is pretty dang informative so far. Its not a tv show, btw. Its like a History channel series. I'm on ep 1 and am enjoying it. The reenactments are really well done and fun just like the movies.

Interested to hear your thoughts when you finish. The last season of the original show was just bad all around. The big bad of the season just seemed like a regular guy trying to act like a psychopath versus Dexter who walks around as a wolf in sheep’s clothing and plays the part well.
