So this bloke from the US landed in NZ for a BJJ competition.
One of our local crackheads (ice/P/methamphetamine) decided to try and take his money a few hours afterwards.
Didn't end well for the crackhead.

Chris Bower went on to win gold in the Mater 4 middleweight division.
Great work champ!

Didn't Renzo choke a guy out in a diner that was being aggressive, been looking for that video can't find it. If not him it was one of his students IIRC, must be almost 15 years old now.

At the beginning of this year I was attacked by a blind guy.

No lie.

I was at work talking with him and he suddenly came at me and grabbed and tried to choke me.

I was legit thinking to myself, is this guy serious?

He was a large guy at least 50 lbs and about half a meter taller than me and at first I was just trying to keep him from punching me but then he legit grabbed and started to try and choke me.

It did not go well for him.

I've had several run ins with self defense and honestly, my REAL and FIRST desire to do BJJ or any martial art was self defense.

I often tell people that if you're getting into BJJ or any MA/Combat sport, understand it's real purpose.

I've helped alot of guys train for competition, but that wasn't what I was ever there for. Many team members never could understand that.
