BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was stabbed to death after a confrontation with another man in Beverly Hills Saturday afternoon, police said.
Officers responded just before 3 p.m. to the 100 block of Spalding Drive, near the intersection of Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards.
Beverly Hills police only said two men got into a confrontation. One died at a hospital and the other is cooperating with the investigation.
However, witnesses said it appears the alleged attacker was fatally stabbed.
Sommer Janssen said a couple and their young daughter were walking when a man tried to grab the child. The dad then tried to fight off the man, Janssen said.
A good Samaritan, who only wants to be identified as Brian, rushed to intervene during the incident.
"I saw him attacking the father as they were walking across the street while he had his - probably 2-year-old, maybe a little younger - in his arms" Brian said.
The bloody suspect then turned his attention to Brian and attempted to pull his dog Luna from the car.
"He's in the car. I'm punching him. I can see his face and he's just not present," Brian said. "He was clearly having a psychotic break or something, some kind of drug reaction."
Brian's vehicle rolled through the intersection and into a hedge as he fought off the suspect.
"He stopped at that point and then he went in and was banging on the windows of an apartment building," Brian said.
Brian said police arrived and used a Taser on the man.
Residents in the neighborhood said the unprovoked attack has them concerned.
Police said more details on the stabbing are expected to be released Sunday.
