I had a daily podcast with Passive Jay for awhile a few years ago called OG Live.

A weird group of OGers basically made it their identity to be part of the show and live chat. I eventually quit doing the show as Jay was a lazy fuck and I had to do ALL of the prep work and behind the scenes stuff.

That group of weirdos then created their own discord and group chats that are STILL obsessed with me for some weird reason.

Its full on parasocial, stalker type behavior.

Because I only focus on Spotify.

I dont push my socials at all. Plus Spotify's algo and editorial promotion is way easier to crack than Youtube/Insta/etc.

This is a side hustle/hobby for me. Hell, I dont even have a TikTok which seems to be the go to for music promotion now days.

So, I generally make $1-3k a month from streaming royalties. It varies by source but you generally get something like $0.035 per stream. Then I also have PRO royalties that come quarterly. And this accounts for other uses of your registered works (radio play, live shows, snapchat/tiktok/instagram content using your music) that I generally make around $1500 a quarter.

Here is a snapshot of the streaming royalties this year for me:

Like, if someone doesn't like you or give a shit about you, why would they be on your mind so much? So much that you talk about them to other people despite them having no clue. So much that you stalk their social media... save pictures, photoshop pictures, and make poorly recorded songs that only your small circle even understands.

That truly is behavior I do not understand.

I dont record music for a forum... or a discord... or a group chat. I record music to publish it so that tens of thousands of people can listen to it and understand it.

I wish I could figure this out for fishing. Around 2019-2022 I was easily in the top 3% in terms of results when I would go out to the lake. I would sit there and have paid boat guides bee-lining to where I was and catch jack shit while I was hammering them, happened many, many, many times. But I never could figure out how to do anything with it. I tried making fishing rods, I guess I still do make them technically, but there isnt a lot of money in it. Guiding requires more money than I have to invest in it. So yeah, I could just never figure out how to monetize it. Now I dont have a boat and Ive become rusty for sure.

Thought about that many times but its actually an incredibly saturated market on youtube. Im also half deaf and it affects the way I speak, both in tone and volume, and its not exactly something that translates to people wanting to listen to me. Its very monotone and I never really know how loud or quiet I am, some slurring and enunciation problems. I dont get out enough anymore either. Its not a bad idea, dont get me wrong, but not really for me I dont think.
