That was way after my time, for me a series I would say would be the Sackett series from Louis Lamour
Maybe you remember, which Sackett book had that subplot about finding the graves of blue-eyed Indians that no one could explain? That randomly popped up in my head decades later after coming across this:

Always thought that was a cool possibility as a kid, especially considering the Vikings settled at L'Anse aux Meadows.

I think it was to the far blue mountains, been years since I read it but IIRC he talks about woolly mammoths in the book as well.

Henry and Ribsy by Beverly Cleary

Choose your own adventure books.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory but that one seems very suspect looking back now.

The Great Brain. Was about a scheming little boy who found ways to get around the ways of the Jesuit priests who tried to hold him back. No bong-bong in the hands, just light-hearted fiction for boys.

When I was 8 in 1967 I got matching volumes of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer “ and “Huckleberry Finn”. Loved both but Huck was my favorite. Still one of my favorite books of all time.

Toss up for me between where the Red Fern Grows and My side of the Mountain. Lean more towards My side though. I made a list of what I needed and was going to head off to the Catskills at the age of ten.

Third place would be education of little tree.
where the wild things go was pretty interesting
