He likely saved a life doing it. Probably not the drunk driver's life, they seem to survive anyway.

She's probably gonna get off that charge with a decent lawyer, no?
I would be shocked if she did, there was so much articulation in his report. Defense might bring up his suspension but it would be a nothing burger. Not seeing much in new stories for her besides an arrest back in 2023 for DUI, don't believe it's the same incident since it's a different department.

SUMMARY: I was dispatched to the area of I-96 Fwy and Southfield Fwy for a vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes. Dispatch continued to update locations and I was able to catch up to the suspect vehicle at I-75 Fwy and Eureka. I was able to use the median turn around, and began pursuing the wrong way driver. Utilizing the left shoulder, I caught up to the suspect vehicle. Once I deemed safe, I utilized the PIT maneuver to disable the suspect vehicle in order to save lives of potential victims in a wrong way crash. The suspect was then detained without incident. Sobriety tests were conducted with the results being poor. A preliminary breath test was administered with the results being .179 BAC. Chemical test rights were read to Bousho which she agreed to take my test. Two breath samples were taken from Boucho at the MSP Detroit Detachment with the results being .195 BrAC and .184 BrAC. Brucho was lodged at the Detroit Detention Center.

DISPATCHED INFORMATION: Station 20 dispatch broadcasted that there was a wrong way driver, driving eastbound in the westbound lanes at I-96 Fwy and Evergreen. Multiple calls were coming in with updated locations. Below are the locations dispatch provided. • M-39 Fwy near M-39 Fwy • W I-96 Fwy near Chicago • W i-96 Fwy passing Joy Rd • Southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75 Fwy and Clark • Southbound I-75 Fwy and the Rouge Bridge • Southbound I-75 Fwy and Northline

LOCATE SUSPECT VEHICLE: I located the suspect vehicle with Brownstown PD following behind the suspect vehicle going southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75 Fwy near Northline Rd. The suspect vehicle was not stopping for the emergency lights and sirens. I got in front of the suspect vehicle while traveling on the correct side of the roadway. I then utilized the emergency turn around to get ahead of the suspect vehicle. Brownstown PD slowed up to allow me to get in front of them.

PURSUIT: I entered the northbound I-75 Fwy lanes and began driving southbound. I utilized the left shoulder of the freeway to catch up to the suspect vehicle with my emergency lights and sirens activated. I got behind the suspect vehicle and it still failed to pull over or stop for emergency vehicles. I monitored the traffic traveling northbound I-75 Fwy to wait for an opening. One vehicle passed and I observed a large opening of no traffic. I positioned my patrol vehicle on the driver side of the suspect vehicle and performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT Maneuver) to disable the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle became disabled and I placed my push bumper against the front of the suspect vehicle to prevent further fleeing. It should be noted that this suspect vehicle traveled close to 30 miles the wrong way on the freeway. The longer the suspect drives the wrong way on the freeway, the higher the probability of the suspect crashing head on. Being an accident investigator, I know a high majority of wrong way driving crashes results in the death of one or both vehicles. It is my belief that if I did not PIT the vehicle when I did, the suspect was going to kill and innocent civilian or herself. It also should be noted that Brownstown PD was following being the suspect vehicle for an unknown amount of minutes without making an effort to stop the vehicle. In those few minutes, the suspect vehicle was able to travel multiple miles without being stopped.

HANDCUFF DRIVER: With the assistance of Brownstown PD, the driver was taken out of her vehicle and placed up against her vehicle. Brownstown PD placed her hands behind her back and I placed handcuffs on her wrists. The cuffs were checked for tension and double locked. Bousho was then taken out of handcuffs to perform sobriety tests.

IDENTIFICATION OF SUSPECT: The suspect was later identified as Abigail Bousho by her Michigan Driver’s License. MIRANDA RIGHTS: Due to Bousho being in handcuffs, I read her Miranda Rights directly off my department issued UD-52 Miranda Warnings card.

INTERVIEW BOUSHO: She stated the following: • She was coming from work, • She admitted to having two Miller Lites and two shots of Jameson an hour prior to driving while she was working. SIGNS OF

INTOXICATION: Bousho exhibited the following signs and symptoms of intoxication: - She was observed driving the wrong way on the freeway. - She admitted to having “two shots of Jameson and two Miller Lites”. - She was observed having drowsy, bloodshot watery eyes. - The smell of alcoholic beverages emitted from her breath. - On a scale 0 to 5, 0 being completely sober, and 5 being the drunkest she has ever been, she rated herself as a 2.

Thanks. There was still a high risk of an accident even with the pit maneuver. There's still two cars in the middle of an expressway. I take it that's why it's against policy?

Yes, policies are written to protect the department, If a drunk driver going wrong way kills a family, no liability, if an officer causes it the department is, even though they are trying to save people's lives. It's why he was in the break down lane and took his shot when he saw an opening from oncoming traffic.
