General How do streaming apps like Pluto do it

All the content they have, obviously the ads make them money but is there services out there that you can buy content from to start your own streaming channel?

I know one of the owners was an Oger and would comment on threads about it but seems like alot of the stuff they show would bring up a cease and desist. Wish I would have paid more attention to those threads. I think he did an AMA once.

Reason I ask is I have had about 10 people mention to me pluto in the last couple months, only time I heard about it before was on the OG.

Plus I was watching the good the bad and the ugly last night on it and was surprised they were serving local ads for me which is the first time I have seen that.

So how do we make streaming apps and become thousandaires?

Pluto has been big for at least a few years now. I actually knew of it before I learned the guy was on the OG.

The guy must have had connections with someone in the business and once others saw the ad revenue they came on board.

Its like anything, all in who you know. I dont know anyone and so I will probably be broke my whole life.

Mobdro was fucking awesome when there was nothing else to watch. No commercials(obviously illegal) other than a popup once in a while if you didn't have adblock.

It had live TV as well as 24/7 TV like this. Me and the nephew would just let the Office and King of the hill on the background all day while we made lunch/dinner during covid. Good times. Pluto is like that on roids but with ads.

I have had an idea for an app for years. Ive even built a rudimentary version of it that works on a computer at a very basic level. The fantasy is that I make it into something more functional and an existing company that does something similar in an adjacent industry buys it from me or hires me on as a very high paid consultant or something.

But making an app is pretty hard if you arent an actual developer, which I am not.
