Had to be a paid hit. Apparently United is merging with another company and this guy was in NYC for the investors meeting. What was he killed for? No clue, but a masked man targeted him specifically. Had to be something nefarious.

Medical insurance in the US is fucking evil
It really is.

Back in August my wife was having some stomach pain. She goes to urgent care, they say they cant help her, she must go to the ER. ER is of course very expensive and so she came home. Her doctor is telling her to go to urgent care the next day, so you see the cycle being formed. She deals with it but later in the evening says something is wrong so she goes to the ER.

ER does the tests the UC cannot do and finds she has appendicitis. She has her appendix removed. In the ER. Yeah, not cheap.

So we get a bill for $3700, which I have her set up on a 12 month repayment plan.

I know pay the $500 a month in premiums, plus $310 for the appendix. For a year I am spending over $800 a month. For a fucking appendix.

One nice thing is my new job has slightly cheaper and better insurance.

What kind of insurance do you guys have?

I spent 10 days in the hospital in 2022 for an infected cyst that led to sepsis... and my out of pocket was a total of like $5k. And that included 2 surgeries and all of the after care when I was finally discharged.

Back then we were were self insured as business owners and were paying like 450 a month for basic coverage, didn't cover shit.

Now with ACA we pay almost 1500 a month for the cheapest bronze package and we have max out of pocket of 12,500 I believe per person. Still covers barely shit. It's basically a catastrophic plan, other than that we pay for pretty much everything. My colonoscopy we paid out of pocket, almost 7000.

Was looking for what type of salary/stock package this guy had cause i was curious, clicked on some comment sections and forums. Didn't see a single post of sympathy. So yeah, ceo of a health insurance company is probably one of the most looked down upon jobs the the country.

I worked in medical billing for 15 years and waived so many charges it's sickening to think back on. We never sent a patient's balance to collections. You'd have to be a rotten dick head to do something like that on the back end of someone's suffering.

If I ever have a large balance like that, I'd call the billing dept and ask for a reduction in fees based on self-pay. The fees are arbitrary (obviously) and if you make a big enough fuss they should offer at least a little help. Always ask for an itemized ledger that shows all the individual charges. That should give you some ammo to argue with.

Wasn't it a major plot point in the Saw horror series? This shit has persisted for way too long.

Uninsured. When my group coverage was canceled I checked out revamped Obamacare. They wanted $500/month in premiums for a 35-year-old single male. lol
