It's relative because no one has a good alternative. Everyone just has shitty, albeit it different versions of it. Personally, as someone who's lone term employed I'd be better served by the American healthcare system than I am by giving away half my income to sit in ER waitrooms with a 2.5 year old for 6.5 fucking hours.

The politicians have done a good job at not getting blamed for taking the money and creating the laws that have pushed society to get into this situation. In the past the first thought would be to lynch the elected officials in the town square, but we have been conditioned so that this never occurs to people and instead they go after civilians.

Security in most instances is largely for show. Sure, a president or dictator have legit security, but as long as someone's motivated, I think it's rather easy to whack someone. And if someone doesn't care if they live or die in the act then it's probably impossible to keep someone safe.

As someone who’s dealt with a few CEO’s with large enough profiles to be publicly known, this is nonsense.

But it’s not really the point either. Whacking these guys in public hasn’t exactly been a trend over the years. Once it becomes one, security details would be considered a necessity, along with adapted processes. Things wouldn’t remain static if company leaders started dropping like flies.

I'm surprised the guy was walking around without security. I work for a big bank and the CEO visited our campus a few years ago and you would think the guy was the president. Snipers on the roof and surrounded by security and this was to a friendly site.

I had a meeting with Brad Smith once on Microsoft’s campus. He was a VP at the time, not even a CEO, and I felt like I was walking into Fort Knox.

When Ballmer or Gates was onsite, they always arrived by helicopter and a block and half around he building was completely shut down and cutoff from public access.

Person taken into custody in Altoona, Pa.
A source with knowledge of the investigation into the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson told Fox News that a person fitting the suspect's description has been taken into custody at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pa.
The person has a similar gun to the one used in the shooting last Wednesday, the source added.
Police tell Fox News that a person at the McDonald's recognized the individual from the wanted posters of the suspect and then alerted law enforcement
When police arrived, they spotted the person and found a weapon -- believed to be the one used in the murder -- in his pocket, along with a fake ID, according to police.
Altoona is a city located about 100 miles east of Pittsburgh.
Thompson died last Wednesday after being shot outside of a hotel in New York City. The suspect in the shooting was last seen at a bus station in upper Manhattan.
