No one wants these kids to be employee's. Not fans, not the schools or the players.

I'm curious if the SEC and B10 left the NCAA if they could set their own rules without making them employee's? Not sure if that's legal.
Problem is, the SEC and B1G seem to be the two biggest culprits in all of this. The Bama’s, Georgia’s, Ohio States (Miami too, to be fair) of the world were paying the most for players, long before there was ever NIL. Now it’s just legal, taxed, and semi ‘regulated’…by an organization more corrupt than the universities. The whole thing is just slimy and has made college athletics (especially football and basketball) a joke honestly.

I promise even low level B10 and ACC schools were paying players. Those other schools didn't have organization of the bigger schools like Georgia, Bama, tOSU and Clemson. Even little ol Louisville paid players in football and basketball. You think Lamar Jackson went there for free? 😂

0% that happens.
Those percentages are just the seats that SG is selling.

tOSU season ticket holders got first look to purchase. I'm sure most did - and some are flipping them on SG.

So...smaller sample size...100 tickets are sold to season ticket holders. 90 keep them. 10 flip them. If half of those 10 are purchased by TN fans - that doesn't mean 50% of the stadium will by Volunqueer fans.

Oh I know. I’m not naive. I’m just saying there was levels to the shit. Still is. Just legal levels now.

And to be fair, Lamar was a 3 star that no one besides Petrino wanted to play at QB. Lamar said that everyone recruiting him wanted him to switch to WR.

Yeah I'm not that pumped tbh. Supposedly Kirby tried to get him to stay though. We'll see I suppose.

I want Micah Hudson. Our offense needs wrs that can separate badly.
Last year he held us hostage twice and got paid both times. This year we may have wanted him to stay for the SECCG. After that we would have helped him pack. He hadn't played in 3 or 4 weeks.

This will be the lasting image of him in Athens. His shining moment vs Ryan Williams to close out the Bama game.

Obviously no clue on Lamar but you'd be surprised that 3* also used to get a bag.

I'm starting to wonder if there isn't a sustainable model for NIL and the transfer portal is because a sustainable model doesn't exist. No matter what comes out of the court decision any new rule is going to meet legal challenges.

During Lincoln's time you were pretty high on the portal lol

Besides, it's not the portal per say, it's the combination of portal and NIL. It's not sustainable without contracts. There has to be a salary structure which will immediately be challenged in court.

No. I said the portal would have a massive impact. Which I was correct. I've never been for it.
While I'm joking with you to an extent you definitely said it's a sustainable way to build a team every year. Using the portal heavily which Lincoln did more than any other coach during that time period.

No matter what the portal has changed a lot since then.

Bama DB Jaylen Mbakwe is being offered 7 figures and a guaranteed starting spot. Shit is wild.

Yeah I'm fine with that but I'm also fine with a scrap afterwards.
