Site Issues - Banned for Spam

Hello Wild,

I am hoping this message finds you well.

I have now heard from a few people that they had their name changed when they didn’t request it. Mine was changed to smilin and I didn’t ask for that or manually change it. Methos had their name changed without request or knowledge.

There are multiple people who have indicated that they were banned for “spam” when they have recently posted like “nitecrawler” and “Cire”. These are people who rarely posted here but definitely did not spam.

Can you check to see if something nefarious is going on or someone you are not expecting to access the admin tools is fooling about? Also, can you unban these folks? I think Jimmy_Coconuts is also banned for spam.

Because other than posting the GFM for Cami, he apparently only uses the site to try to convince people here to move there.

He even says that the only reason he came over here was to share Cami's GFM info...which is fine, I dont mind that at all. Cami obviously meant a lot to people here and there. I didn't know Cami well but donated out of respect.



But why should someone who is 1) a Mod on a rival site 2) has no intention of being an active member here, and 3) is actively trying to convince people to move there, have an account here? Out of respect, I even reached out to someone here that I know is close to Nitecrawler, and explained the situation to that individual because I didn't want to make things awkward here for that person.

Most of those guys only used TMMAC as a 1 week stop-gap until they could get that site up & running. They've made it clear where their allegiance lies. They have zero intention of being active members here, and many of them talk shit about this site over there. But when I ban their accounts, they get offended? Make it make sense.

I believe that I have been very transparent. Don't talk shit about this site, or try to poach people from it, and expect to have an account here. Petty? Maybe. But that's my position.

If someone can make an argument that I am being unreasonable, I am open to listening.

I can agree with you about people who are actively poaching or trying to stir up drama. Most people just want to be able to say hi to their friends in both places. Even as a mod or an admin, I still posted here and left an open line for people who wanted to talk about things or apologize.

I understand not wanting to deal with people poaching, or badmouthing, but even I can see that this would be a little heavy. I’ve been abused for 6 months and even I wouldn’t ban people for this level of talk. I have not seen people say much of anything towards you beyond thinking you were heavy handed. Hell, they thought I was way heavier than you.

It is your site and you are welcome to do with it what you desire. I enjoy people in all of the communities.

100% honest. I don't know anything about name changes on accounts, that weren't done by the member themselves. I am the only Admin here, and I barely know what I'm doing. I haven't fucked with anyone's usernames or passwords. That's the truth. How yours got changed without you doing it, or requesting it, is beyond me. Are you sure you didn't change it to smiley on a drunken binge one night? I know you changed your SN a couple of times.

And I can't see someone hacking the site just to change a few usernames. I imagine they'd do some more nefarious shit than that. Also, my former partner was a stickler for site security, so I dont think the average hacker would have a lot of luck if they tried.

I don’t get drunk or out of control. I might have a drink but have not allowed myself to get to any level of inebriation that doesn’t allow me to look after my family. I would know if I did the change.

It is odd and especially odd when a few people have noticed it. Odd things happen with technology so I brought it up so you could be aware of it.

I have tried to be his friend, when his wife would not sleep with him for 6 months i gave him advise, which he followed when he got fired and was happy for a bit. Just yesterday it was his wedding anniversary and I found him a restaurant, reservations and everything to a really nice Teppanyaki place not far.

He decided to book it at 4 pm his time to a cheap steak and eggs place just so he could be back home by 7 pm to watch the Sharks game He refused to make love to his wife and this morning he didn't either.

And hes working madly to get me perma banned , after I make peace with him and try to help his relationship at every turn.

Ok found that account. Saw a namechange in the user log from Methos42 to Jake. Again, I didn't do that so I assume they did? Anyway, I changed it to M @Methos42 and the account is active, if they'd like to login.

They didn’t even know they could change their account. I think something is going on with name changes on the backend. That is two users who had an unrequested name change.
