Eagles coach Nick Sirianni hasn't decided whether he'll let Saquon Barkley attempt to break the NFL's single-season rushing record Sunday but he says he'll talk to everyone in the organization, including owner Jeffrey Lurie, before making that call.

I'd rest him. The record in 1 more game than everyone on that list doesn't mean as much as having him healthy for the post.

Absolutely insane that the all time leading rushing QB is now also the most effective passer.
So the last spot in the AFC playoffs comes down to three possibilities:
If
@Rambo John J's Broncos win against KC's second string players, they are in.
If Denver loses and Miami wins, the Dolphins are in.
If both the Broncos and Dolphins lose and
@Hauler's Bengals win, then they get in.
If all 3 lose, it's the Broncos by default lol.

I mean, c’mon, they aren’t beating Detroit/Minnesota anyways, and then KC/Buffalo after that. Too much of a coaching deficit to overcome. Let the man get a record that will stand for 40 years.

I pulled the week by week stats and made a chart because I don't have to work today and I'm a fucking nerd.
Barkley had Dickerson outpaced through Week 13, but in Weeks 14, 15 and 16 Eric had games of 149, 215 and 98.
Dickerson finished at 2105. Barkley is sitting at 2005.
The "most in a season" means fuck all when the length of the seasons are different. It's the whole Maris/Ruth thing all over again. Maris had an asterisk next to his 61 HR mark for 30 years because it took him 8 more games to get it. They finally removed it 30 years later.
For the NFL, we're eventually going to 18 game seasons which further muddies the waters on this "most in a season" nonsense.
The best way to do it is factor rush yards/game for the length of the season.
So Dickerson would be at 131.56
Let's say Barkley plays this week and gets to 2106 yards. His average would be 123.88
That would put him at #10 all time.
To match Dickerson's best-ever average, Barkley would need 2237 yards in a 17 game season, so he'd have to go for 232 yards today.
I'd rest him - because in my eyes it's a faux record even if he gets to 2106.
I don't really care for the record chasing, Rings are King and I think they can compete for one

Of the eight 2,000 yard rushers all time, there are three (O J Simpson, Barry Sanders and Adrian Peterson) who averaged more yards per carry than Saquon Barkley has this year.
Of the eight seasons, seven of them were over 16 games, and in all cases rushed for more than the 2,005 yards Saquon Barkley has achieved through 16 games this season. The only exception is O J Simpson, who rushed for 2,003 yards in 14 games.
It's been an exceptional year for Barkley, no doubt about that; however unless he has an utterly ridiculous last game in terms of yards per attempt, other previous rushing seasons will likely be regarded as superior.
Still, records are there to be broken. I wouldn't mind seeing him break Dickerson's record, especially after running backs were sort of "devalued" in recent years.
He's tied for 3rd in yards/attempt.
