Since I got my Ezpass in NY I got an email from them last night. Looks like I won't be driving through NYC anymore, it's expensive enough to drive through there. Will be interesting to see the financial impact.

Starting on January 5, 2025, vehicles entering the Central Business District (CBD), popularly referred to as the Congestion Relief Zone (CRZ), will be charged a toll. The CRZ includes local streets and avenues at or below 60th St in Manhattan, and excludes trips entirely done on the FDR Drive, West Side Highway/Route 9A, and the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel connections to West Street.

The toll amount depends on several factors: the type of vehicle, time of day, whether any crossing credits apply, and payment method. For example, passenger vehicles with E-ZPass tags entering the CRZ at 60 Street will be charged $9 in the peak period and $2.25 overnight, once daily. I ditched ezpass years ago.

So I simply won't be paying this shit.

They can bill me. I'll use the paper to light the forge.

There'll be no enforcement of any kind anyway.

Fuck's sake, I know people who haven't paid their toll bills in 5 years. And they still use the bridges and tunnels lol.

That's what I've been doing for years. Ezpass refused to simply take the payments from my card even though they said it would be an automatic debit.

So I racked up something like 500 in toll violations.

Paid the actual toll portion.

Never paid the violations.

They didn't do anything. The violations just disappeared from my balance after a few months.

There is zero enforcement of this shit.

So I just won't pay it.

my brother in law and his boyfriend were on the street for this shit. Love the dude but he's an idiot. Will literally go along with anything NYC wants to do. He also hasnt owed a car in like 15 years.

Took several Ubers in new York. Can't say if like to drive down there myself. Chaos. So many vehicles have dents and scratches.
