BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A Texas man allegedly attacked his girlfriend in Bangor then cut his face with a razor blade to get her arrested.

Aric Houghton, 30, is charged with domestic violence aggravated assault, obstructing the report of a crime, and criminal mischief.

Police say Houghton was arrested Tuesday after assaulting his girlfriend at her Bangor apartment.

On Wednesday, Houghton called Bangor Police to report he was assaulted by his girlfriend.

Officers say they found him bleeding from cuts on his face, and he claimed the victim from the day before had attacked him with a razor blade.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The victim told police Houghton had a key, entered her apartment, and attacked her again.

She told officers she felt he was there to kill her and he used a razor blade to cut his own face, telling her she was going to get her arrested for assaulting him.

She was treated at a local hospital for injuries.

Houghton was arrested again and charged with domestic violence assault, and violation of conditions of release.

Yep, I'm surprised the jail took him like that to be honest though, they try and get out of booking with medical isues as much as possible. I had a guy that had a warrant that we have a duty to arrest for. Jail refuses to take him because he was in wheelchair. Said they weren't able to deal with it, so he is still rolling around the streets in rural Maine.

They gotta sit on him at the hospital, and usually don't have the manpower.
Treating/transporting prisoners is a huge PITA and costs overtime everytime.

Actually LEO sit on them at the hospital, jail doesn't send anyone over. If they aren't a risk we can leave and just have the hospital call us when they are ready to be discharged, they have hospital security keep an on them till we get back.
