I think that asterisk fades with time. It matters now because it is fresh but in 5 years it won't. The convo will be tOSU's 3 national titles this century vs Michigan's 1, Michigan being a perennial 8-win team that had a winning blip vs tOSU being a contender every year

You are 100% correct.
Natty's are remembered forever. Like I know the Buckeyes won the title in 2002 - but I don't remember if they beat TTUN that year. You can assume they did just because a loss back then would kick you out - but I don't remember the actual game.
But this year it's still fresh and it still stings.
Even with this impressive run with wins over Tennessee, Oregon and Texas. I still look at it as "Yeah, but..."
But yeah - 10 years from now it won't sting as much.
Mostly because by then we'll have a 9 game win streak over those fuckers.
Portnoy is what he is. He doesn't bother me.
