US malls are already probably scarier than just about anywhere in the UK.
You're right, at least in many cases.

US malls have been dying for years. The media tries to blame e-commerce and changing shopping trends, but in reality it's been caused by the influx of young black and brown people and their terrible behavior. East Town mall/Knoxville Center mall was leveled a few years ago because black people couldn't stop robbing the patrons and stores and shooting people. It's now an Amazon distribution warehouse.

Yeah, the mall nearest me was gnarly in the 80s. Combat zone as a teen.
EDIT- If you remember The Good Guys hostage thing where they shot most of the hostages, that was the same mall area.

Asians...
The larger part of people from the continent of Asia who emigrated to the USA were from South East Asia, what would have been referred to as oriental back in the day. That's why the term "Asian" means Chinese / Korean / Japanese etc. to those from the USA.

Due to the rule of the British Raj over the Indian subcontinent (also part of the continent of Asia) for so many years, the majority of Asians who emigrated to the UK were from that area (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi). That's why in the UK, the term "Asian" refers to them.

It's not some sort of conspiracy to hide their origins, just a cultural difference.

And in UK calling them Indian is considered racist. Lol I got in shit for it at work in London. They told me you have to use the word Asian you can't say Indian. Nuts because they call eachother Indian (the Indians I'm talking about never was friends with or worked with anyone from Pakistan or Bangladesh when I was there) not Asian.
