It was super blown out of proportion. Dude held the sub like 3 seconds longer than the ref told him to let go.
People like to time his "long holds" from the tap. You aren't supposed to release on the tap, you're supposed to release on the ref stoppage. Hence the referee's commands.
Rolling at your gym, different story. In a fight you stop on the ref's command.
