I think so too but even their numbers seem high.
It appears to illustrate the disparity that's going to lead to the end of America as we know it.
People really aren't taking these indicators seriously enough. We're headed for a communist revolution and no one wants to recognize it.

Net worth is worth minus debt if you were to liquidate everything (sell house, pay off loan for example). Median is the absolute middle of the sample group. If they evaluated 100 people and placed them onto a spreadsheet of ascending or descending net worth, whomever is #50 would be the median. Median is where most people would be hovering. Median is different than average, as average takes all numbers, and calculates from there, therefore if Elon Musk were in the sample group, the average would be completely off base as his zillion dollars skews the numbers. Median is better indicator than average.. But distributions can vary wildly so even median alone isn't always a good indicator where people are at.
You could have 40% of population with a negative net worth and still have a median of 150k.
Better to see multiple percentiles to give an idea on distribution.
