I just got a recall on my 2017 cbr 1000 rr. Since Ive had this bike the rear master cylinder went dry as well as the coolant reservoir.
I been riding cbrs since 98 and still have my first generation Repsol and had no problems with any of them.
Hondas have went to shit now I gotta waste my time taking this new one in because honda was forced to replace the fuel pump module because they wont start.

I ignore most recalls until it's an actual problem.

Can't help you on your current problem, but your post reminded me of the time when I was 15 years old and ran from the cops on a CB750

Ran from the law twice first time with a girl on the back. I thought Id get a slap on the wrist the 2nd time but they gave me 2 years stacked and I had to get the prosecutor to get me out early because even he didnt think I deserved so much time.
First year zx-6r too and only red and blue one in the tri cities.
Cant outrun the radio.

I got away.
Drove it through a cemetery and hid out in my buddy's garage. Stayed there all night. This was back in the late 80s.

First and last time I did something that dumb. On a bike anyway.

I've had 2 CBR's and both were bulletproof, but my last one was a 2007. Sorry to hear they went to shit.

That is not good advice. Companies are made to make money. They don't do that issuing recalls. They are expensive. The company is offering to fix the problem for free.

As far as Hondas, they've been bulletproof in my experience. My father still has his 70-something motorcycle (I'm not sure of the model). When I was younger we had 4-wheelers we'd beat the shit out of. Hondas always took a licking and kept on ticking. I haven't touched anything Honda in 20+ years. I hope they haven't gone to shit. Honda and Toyota vehicles of any type have been reliable for my entire life so far.

The last one I had said they steering would lock up and the brakes wouldn't stop the vehicle. I live in a city, so I can't count on having enough space to pop it into neutral and ride it to a stop. I'd rather not take that chance. I took it to the Toyota $teeler and let them fix it. I haven't had a problem with regard to anything like that.

I am currently dealing with the fact that someone broke into my garage and drilled a hole through my gas tank, but that isn't Toyota's fault.

Oh I'd be working very hard to find out the bastard that did that.

Some cbrs are even made in china now I hear. fuck that shit.My Repsol has less than 24000 on it. It started running like shit and I had no idea what was wrong with it. took it to the leading honda shop here after making an appointment and the bitch said they dont even work on bikes that old.So I bought a new one and its been shit since the beginning. Batteries dont last a year the rear master cylinder went dry and the coolant reservoir too.It runs alot hotter than any bike Ive ever had so that figures.
Come to find out the problem with my Repsol is the power commander went bad. How the fuck did I know they went bad.
I set the fuel map back to zero that didnt help. It would have been easy to take off had I known.
First generation Rep too its a beautiful bike.IMG_20230310_120603360.jpg

If it's the power commander that went bad, that is no knock on the bike. A bad power commander can ruin an engine in no time.

Ye but the new bike is shit tho. Never had a problem with any hondas till the Repsol and it wasnt a factory problem. Ive had 4 cbrs and an xl.
Ive never had any run bad thats why I didnt know wtf was wrong when the Repsol started back firing stalling and dying.
Shoulda never put the power commander on it but I was all about power back then. Race filters new exhaust flapper mod 1 down 3 up gearing and I was spanking everyone at the track but a busa. And was coming up on it but wheelied after getting beat off the line.
