In the official report they said she was trying to remove the gun from the holster itself for some reason and got several fingers inside the trigger guard causing the discharge.

I never understood taking a gun off of a compliant person that are legally allowed to carry and inform you that they are carrying. The ones that don't tell you are the ones you have to be worried about, it was a simple you don't touch yours and I don't touch mine followed by a laugh.

I’ve been pulled over twice while carrying. Conversations went exactly that way.

Yep, just pull the damn holster, don't finger fuck a gun that you know nothing about, but I have an issue with them even removing it from him

Every time I have had police contact and I have my gun on me, I would tell them right away and I've never been asked for my CPL license. Like you said, if they're compliant person, they are probably not the ones you are after. I think only once a cop ask me where my gun was on my body and I told him I appendix carry and he looked at me like I I was telling him it's on the side of my fourth leg. "Yeah motherfucker I'm, fucking skinny and I can do that".

In the state I'm in, I'm not legally required to say anything about a firearm I'm carrying to a cop unless they ask. I've never been approached by a cop around here, but I doubt I'd volunteer that info.

That said, the only time I've ever had someone notice I'm carrying happened to be a cop that was doing traffic control for a road construction crew in an area where I was going for a walk. He was eating his lunch (a slice of pizza) on the sidewalk and saw me crossing the street toward him which I then walked by him. This was when the BLM protests were going on, so I'm guessing he was on high alert. He didn't say anything, but he paid a lot of attention to me so I could tell by his body language that he knew I was carrying.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are looking at the male version of a Karen here.

Also, it wasn’t pizza, let’s be honest, it was a dozen donuts wasn’t it

Yep, Maine requires that, but most of the US does not. That said, in my state a CPL is tied to your driver's license, so if you get pulled over, the cop will already know you have a CPL given your license plate/registration.

A Rundown of "Duty To Inform" Laws in All 50 States

In Montana, before constitutional carry passed, damn near anyone who applied got a concealed carry permit. The law read SHALL issue, not MAY issue. So you pretty much needed to be a felon to be denied. My only complaint then was that the state linked this info to your DL. Its was done that way due to officer safety, which I can understand on the 1 hand, but to me it always felt like a constitutional violation. AFIK this was never challenged in the courts. It was a compromise that never sat right with me. LE is under no obligation to be honest and forthcoming to citizens, therefore citizens are not required either IMO. Its a civil trespass to even ask.

The law gets weird when it comes to this stuff and state Supreme Courts have come to very different conclusions over the years.

Yep, it is the same here except we don't have constitutional carry. Also, I'm pretty sure the SCOTUS banned may issue which is why NYC has to issue them now. That is just off the top of my head so it might not be banned, but they at least need a good reason not to issue the permit rather than the citizen needing a good reason to carry.
