I was a Knob Creek man, with an occasional side trip to Buffalo Trace, Maker’s Cask Strength, etc. for variety. Last bloodwork showed my liver needing TLC so I had to give it up. 😕
Wife got me this for our anniversary a couple-three years back. I liked the taste but something in it didn’t like me. Never have had a problem with hangovers, but every day after drinking this my head would be pounding.
Well, I’ll be damned. I haven’t checked in on this thread for quite some time.
But I do still enjoy me some 🥃
This is the last bottle of this one that I had tucked away for a bit….and it’s pretty damn good. And now it’s a major pain in the ass to find, at least reasonably priced. But whatever, there’s a ton of great whiskey out there that’s always on the shelves 😉

They have so many options in that decanter style too, as far as age goes.
8,9,10,11,13,15,17,19, etc. And probably the others in between I missed.
my wife and I went to the Heaven Hill distillery last summer, and I did an Old Fitz flight at their bar. Tried 7 different ones.
11 and 13 were my personal favorites, and the 17 was also a banger. But they’re all really good, so I’d happily enjoy any of them 👍
Tried the widow Jane 15 last night, great whiskey. Running errands today and will see if I can find more allocated bottles.
Just got this text from a good friend of mine... Thoughts? I wouldn't spend that much on bourbon for myself, but thinking of maybe getting a couple for gifts...

My buddy, Traxler, bought a barrel of a super limited whiskey. Selling for $175 a bottle. Let me know if you want in or if ya got anyone interested. He said it’s the best bourbon he’s ever had - and hes got a pretty good palate
“It's a Rare Character VEN barrel. 123+ proof. Just shy of 9 years. Distilled AND aged in KY. Same distillate as KOA barrels from Rare Character which are considered GEMS currently. Going for like $800.”

Can we also talk about Whisky or Whiskey in here. I went through a bourbon phase I’m not completely out of but I got two bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue for Christmas. You can shit on JW If you like but I really enjoy Blue Label.

There is a barrel proof release floating around that I was hunting. I think it's like 120 and supposed to be incredible.
Didn't find that - but didn't want to leave the store empty handed.
