Retarded comments aside, most comic book characters/iterations of characters just aren't all that interesting to me and don't seem to translate well onto a movie screen.

Wasn't planning on watching despite all the hype from the marvel nerds but now I'll be openly rooting for this movie to bomb.

This style of post is why you come across as supercilious.

Rather than sneering at everyone for their apparent lack of comic book superhero knowledge, why don't you simply explain to the rest of us ignoramuses why we might be mistaken?
He's an angry gay communist lol.

The whole bunch of CA's argument is like arguing about the new Star Wars being canon. Sure, it is but everyone knows it's not at all.

Which is fair.

As I said, earlier people probably shouldn't be so emotionally invested in a fictional character that they're casual fans of.
I think in the case of Captain America though, he's transcended the actual comic storylines other than the base story.

The thing is, if you don't follow the MCU, you probably aren't going to be seeing this movie. If you followed the MCU, you'd already know they're on their 3rd Captain America.

Of course none of that takes away from the idea that Captain America represents the ideals of America, not America as it is at any given time.

I'm putting on the same list as the black panther movies, never gonna watch them
I watched Black Panther in the lead up to Infinity War / End Game because I was still pretty hardcore MCU back then.

I've said this countless times and it's a hill I will die on:

Had BP been the exact same movie in every single way (as in what you saw on the screen was the exact same), but it had been made by white people instead of a black crew, it'd have been called the most racist movie of its generation.

You've got supposedly the most technologically-proficient society on earth, and their warriors fight with spears. Almost exclusively African nomad styling. Leadership is determined by a form of tribal combat to the death. Power is obtained from drinking the equivalent of purple drank.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can see it.

Here is what I don't understand.

Why "re-imagine" or re-do older movies and alter them with wokism?

If you want a gay superhero, write a new one with a new story. Why steal superman and put a dick in his mouth?

If you want a black superhero who represents amerimexico, then create one and write a good story about him.

If you want a trans superhero, or a mentally ill one, write a story and create a new hero or find one that already exists (because they do) and then make that story and hero really good.

Stop trying to steal something that isn't what you want it to be and expect people to love it.

Create your own stories.
I've made this argument countless times, but I've since realized the answer:

(Well, there are several.)

**Reason #1 - the people that want to race/gender/sexuality/whatever swap aren't actually creative, hard-working, or talented enough to create brand new, interesting, fleshed out characters that anyone would actually give a shit about. These people only care about the race, gender, etc their swapping. As a result, the new character's race, gender, who they like to fuck, etc would be the extent of their backstory and quasi "relatability".

And while all these retard progressive activists like to think this is all a charcter needs to be interesting, desirable, etc, they know deep in the back of their mind that it's not.

So they would rather instead piggyback upon an already heavily established character with a hugely ingrained history, lore, & fanbase.

**Reason #2 (and more importantly to them, IMO) - creating your new character is fine, but it won't hold up to the popularity of the established characters. This inherently "proves" that a character whose entire point of existing is because they're a chick, fag, retard, POC, whatever not only doesn't matter in the long run, but they're they're not as good as the regular, straight white dude characters that already exist.

And the activists can't have that.

So by gender/race/sexuality/whatever swapping as many established characters as they can, they set the precedent for pushing the regular straight white dude to the back burner.

Put simply (though extremely) - it's not about establishing the black, girl, homo, etc version of a character...it's also about erasing the original.

That's why I find it so funny. Make them a Viking culture that doesn't want to share anything with the outside world and the same people complaining about it would think it was the greatest piece of cinema ever made.

Worst thing about that shit movie was that they killed off the most interesting character.
