Pretty straight forward, let’s rate some movies!

jackpot - 5.5/10

It’s a silly and bad movie really, I really don’t like awkwafina nor John cena but the movie was oddly finishable. I wish it leaned a little more into the absurd, closer to the twisted metal series.

We've got a long running thread here on TMMAC:

Just FYI, not trying to be a sick about it lol, the TMMAC search function sucks ass (pretty much the only thing that doesn't work well on this site).

Lethal Weapon (directors cut)
6/10
OK, when it was new I would have rated it 11. It was the progenitor of the buddy dramedy/action flick and when new it was hip and cool, grading on a curve for ‘80s over the top action scenes and overwrought “acting”.
However, it has aged like milk and reeks of ‘80s cheesiness. Lots of continuity lapses that I either didn’t notice back when or simply forgot, like the fact that Riggs’ special suicide bullet that he specifically said was a hollow point was very clearly shown in a closeup to be FMJ.
Oh, and why is there an ongoing argument about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie, but this one never gets mentioned?

Nutcrackers. 5/10. Was hoping for another Overboard. BTW, that remake was pretty good. Anyway, the kids antics were fun but if you want a real heartfelt movie with homeschooled weird kids watch Captain Fantastic.

Good movie but I was taken out of it somewhat by learning that a lot of the shit the dad was into reflects Viggo’s own beliefs. Too weird for me.

Just watched "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" on https://ww25.soap2day.day. Gotta say, solid 8/10! The dimension-hopping was insane, right? And the visuals? Absolutely amazing. Benedict Cumberbatch killed it as Doctor Strange, really deepened his character this time around. Some parts did zip by pretty fast, but overall, totally worth watching, especially for Marvel fans

That and the Spiderman movies have been the only really watchable ones post Endgame.

No Hard Feelings with Jennifer Lawrence.

Hot chick needs a car and some dork's parents offer one up for her to turn their nerd into a man before college. Fairly predictable movie with a few laughs scattered in here and there. The highlight for me was Jennifer Lawrence skinny dipping in the ocean and when a group of kids try to steal her clothes she came out of the ocean - completely nude - and kicked their asses. Not sure if it was a body double or not - but whoever's body it was I thoroughly enjoyed the scene.

6/10

Great movie. Saw it in the theater when it came out 20 years ago and have it in the DVD collection to rewatch periodically. I was taking a somewhat strained piss the just other morning and got tickled thinking about ground up dog balls. Made me realize I haven’t watched it in a couple of years.

Nosferatu (2024)
8/10
After mixed reviews between critics and regular viewers I did what I rarely do and sided with critics, who generally loved it. Visually it’s a great piece of moviemaking. Plays a little bit with the plot points of the 1922 original, but generally sticks to the story. Most regular viewers said it was boring but I watched the extended cut and didn’t find it so. Can’t help but think the haters either don’t know or just don’t understand the original.
