PG&E has just opened applications for an Apprentice System Operator. This position is for the transmission system operations GCC in Vacaville, CA. Once completed with the 2yr training program you’ll be controlling a portion of PG&E’s 60kV to 500kV transmission system (the distribution system operators will cover the lower voltages).
This is a great opportunity for someone but beware that if you have a family, I’d highly recommend once you’re on the desk that your wife stay at home & you be the sole provider. The divorce rate is extremely high for those whose spouse continue to work & kids were involved.
Also, the guys that were in my old apprentice class that promoted to dispatcher are all making 4-500/yr so it’s not like you’ll be hard pressed to provide for your family.
