I know it's hard to control a raging cat, but am I wrong that the most reliable way is to grab them by the scruff of the neck? Not only does that control them, but it tends to trigger a reaction that calms them down like they are being carried by their mother. Any pussy experts here?

It's a lot like plucking a food processor blade assembly out while it's running. Simple in theory.

When I was a kid we had a cat that hid her litter from us in an inaccessible area in our basement. Maybe 3 months later the kittens were able to be caught over the course of a week or two. The scruff of the neck did nothing to stop these wild kittens from spazzing, flailing around, scratching, and biting. I'm no pussy expert, but I play one on TV.
