I just wonder how many of these 10's of thousands of former government employees are not going to be able to find an alternative place in the private sector and how many are going to become dangerous when they decide to take it out on society.
If they can't get jobs in private sector they definitely should NOT be working in public sector.

When I worked as a contractor for the Department of Energy, most of the federal employees I encountered were lazy, entitled, mouth breathing windowlickers that got paid just to show up. They will fail in the private sector unless they make drastic changes. When I turned in my notice, most of my coworkers asked me if I was crazy because my security clearance, coupled with the fact that all of the positions were given first right of refusal if/when contracts changed hands, basically assured me employment for life.

The hubbub about Trump firing a bunch of NNSA employees is laughable. They were the most useless of all the employees I encountered. Most of them were diversity hires.

I work at a NYS college

and you hit the nail on the head with this statement, except replace federal with state employee
I believe this, wholeheartedly. A bunch of our customers are state level entities and the fact that they function at all amazes me. I got so bored while I was working for the government that I decided to get a master's degree just to kill time at work. Boredom at work was also the reason I became an active poster on the otherground. For some reason, it was one of a handful of sites that wasn't completely blocked on our networks.

the amazing part is a lot of these people still work remotely, maybe come in 1 day a week, then eventually convince their bosses, the top of the food chain people, that they are overworked and usually will get an assistant

of course this is all on the administration side of the college, not the maintenance side, which I work on

it will be very interesting moving forward though

we all just got a big email from the Pres of college and in a nut shell the email implies they are shitting their pants about federal $$$$$

I imagine most of the good workers in these gov roles being eliminated will land in another department/agency. You dont just flush good talent who are already in the system. Probably a lot of complacent turds getting a wake up call, which Im sure is scary as hell.
I’m not anti-DOGE, but unfortunately with the speed this is being done, there’s little way to save anyone, competent or otherwise.

I don't think there is any way to avoid the mess if it is going to happen. It needs to be done quickly or it won't get done ever and they can then hopefully readjust as needed and rebuild where it needs to happen. When cutting out a tumor you're better off removing healthy areas around it than trying to be too exact and not getting all the malignant tissue.

I love how the left is up in arms that fed workers that we pay for are getting laid off but never give a damn when there are massive layoffs in the private sector.

Some reason I don't remember a lot of fed employees losing their jobs during the housing crisis in 2008/2009 or jobs/businesses during covid. Must be my old age.
Most of them are paid protesters. It isn't that surprising. They want the unemployment line to be shorter.

Whole bunch of truth here. I left the private sector back in 2018 to work for a state government in energy. Also work next to a federal control room & operate some shared facilities with them. We have a handful of state employees that would do great in the private sector but the vast majority, likely in the 75-85% range, would be fired within their probation period.

The lack of understanding of their (our) own equipment, as well as any understanding of proper prioritizing or mission critical equipment is astounding. I've quite literally witnessed field division chiefs not understand the importance of substation DC systems. When I asked them "what powers breaker operations or comms systems?" they gave me a blank stare. When I informed them it was the DC system they still didn't grasp that without those systems, should a fault happen, the yard breakers wouldn't open to isolate the fault current. Blank stare. I informed these two idiots that a 230kV fault is a pretty big deal and extremely dangerous to the entire system as they consume magnitudes of current over nominal. These fuckers still didn't understand. The meeting ended with me getting pulled aside about my attitude after asking them how in the hell they were in charge of an entire field division without understanding the basic regulations and industry standards.

Bring in the purge, it's needed severely.

Quick question, what the hell exactly are they doing here

The 1st video is a bit confusing. There's a couple possibilities here but neither really make sense as there's better ways to do things.

1) checking for SF6 gas leaks. SF6 is used as an arc quenching insulator and is pressurized to increase its insulating properties. There should be pressure gauges to monitor as well as SF6 gas detectors. Obviously using a flame will help pinpoint a leak but an SF6 "wand" detector will do the same thing more reliably.

2) technically an extremely high electric field will ionize oxygen(ozone smell after lightning or when welding is an example of this) and in smaller quantities act as a type of wind to a flame(smoke & fire are conductive). Those large insulators will also allow transient currents along the surface when dirty creating an arc when enough current is allowed to pass. There are FAR better ways to detect this leakage though through measuring the current through grounding straps.

Either way, what they're showing is stupid.

Whoa, TIL. Never even crossed my mind that they could be.

The 2nd video is likely measuring fault current to ground at relays for testing purposes. There's better ways to do this & this looks older so who knows for sure. That is a trick that operators used to use back in the day to trip plants offline. Prior to the electric utility industry being banned from striking, public utilities would bring in "scabs" to operate generating facilities & the union operators would protest outside. When the plant would sync to the system, someone would throw a rock with a string of aluminum foil tied to it. The foil would cause a phase to phase fault (unlike the phase to ground seen here) tripping the plant offline and leaving nothing for evidence like the ground strike seen here.

It's a sight to see. A TDS chick I used to work with posted dramatically about some IRS and DoD workers getting let go, of all people The left is truly rutterless and retarded and defends some of the craziest shit simply because they hate conservatives so much.
