Yeah I think the specifics of the scenario make a difference. If its just shallow water and they need to drag the body out, yeah I'd help. If it's an effort but the family are more than capable and just being superstitious, well why should I do something for them that they refuse to do themselves?

That last part wasn't clear to me. If I could help w/o a boat, I'd do it no charge. If I could do it w/ a boat that they didn't have, I'd do it no charge. If I saw they had a boat they were prep'ing to go out and do it, I'd scratch my head as to why they were talking to me if they weren't obviously busted up.
