RCMP doesn't do protection for the PM. That's why this is very odd.
Credible threats?
For that you're supposed to hire private security. Like with Elon for example, I'm sure he gets threats. That doesn't mean he should get a taxpayer funded secret service detail, it means he should hire bodyguards.
