Picked Dolly Parton up at a laundromat and locked her down when the were both young and before she was famous. Didn't give a damn about fame, showbiz or the spotlight. Never gave an interview. Attended one celebrity event early in their marriage. He told her he wouldn't do that again, and she never pressed him on it

Laid asphalt for a living. He didn't make the sort of money his wife did, but by just about anyone else's standards was a wealthy man. Married for 60 years, and when his mental and physical health began to decline, his world-famous wife was at his side.

The man did it right.

Did not know. That he wad the inspiration for Jolene.

Parton revealed to NPR in 2008 that her 1973 hit song "Jolene" was written about a bank teller who was flirting with Dean.

"She got this terrible crush on my husband," Parton said at the time. "And he just loved going to the bank because she paid him so much attention. It was kinda like a running joke between us -- when I was saying, 'Hell, you're spending a lot of time at the bank. I don't believe we've got that kind of money.' So it's really an innocent song all around, but sounds like a dreadful one."

It’s nice to be noticed and women should take it as a reminder that they heap attention on their husbands more than others do.
About 25 years ago when I was working in a corporate restaurant my wife and I were going through a rough patch. I had a bartender make a hard pass at me after closing one night and I told my wife about it. It was the catalyst that helped us navigate what we were going through and I firmly believe that incident saved my marriage.
